Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou wrapped up in thy raiment! 1 Stand (to pray) all night, except a little. 2 half of it, or reduce it a little; 3 Or add to it, and recite the Qur'an with measured recitation. 4 For We are about to send down to you a message of considerable gravity. 5 Verily, the rising by night (for Tahajjud prayer) is very hard and most potent and good for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (understanding) the Word (of Allah). 6 You have by day prolonged occupations. 7 So remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with exclusive devotion. 8 (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. 9 And be patient (O Muhammad SAW) with what they say, and keep away from them in a good way. 10 And leave Me alone [to deal] with those who give the lie to the truth - those who enjoy the blessings of life [without any thought of God] - and bear thou with them for a little while: 11 Lo! with Us are heavy fetters and a raging fire, 12 food that chokes and painful punishment 13 On the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains shall become (as) heaps of sand let loose. 14 Verily, We have sent to you (O men) a Messenger (Muhammad SAW) to be a witness over you, as We did send a Messenger [Musa (Moses)] to Fir'aun (Pharaoh). 15 But the Pharaoh disobeyed the apostle; so We seized him with a grievous punishment. 16 How, then, will you guard yourselves, if you disbelieve, on the day which shall make children grey-headed? 17 [the Day] on which the skies shall be rent asunder, [and] His promise [of resurrection] fulfilled? 18 This is a reminder. Let anyone who wants, seek guidance from his Lord. 19
