The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise, and warn. 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 purify your garments; 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa'ud, or to) face a severe torment! 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 May he be condemned! 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
