The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is wound up; 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 And when souls are united, 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
