The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 What! Do they not expect that they will be raised? 4 On a Great Day, 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels). 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
