The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount 1 and a Book inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 and the roof uplifted 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 7 There shall be none to avert it; 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 And the mountains will pass on, departing - 10 Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 on the Day when they shall be thrust into the fire with [an irresistible] thrust, [and will be told:] 13 “This is the fire, which you used to deny!” 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 reclining on couches [of happiness] ranged in rows!" And [in that paradise] We shall mate them with companions pure, most beautiful of eye. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin. 23 ۞ And round them shall go boys of theirs as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will turn to one another and ask (regarding the past events). 25 "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- 26 and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
