▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay! By the moon 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 The morning when it is unveiled, 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 A warning for people -- 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 except those of the right hand 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
