Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 The perspicuous Book is witness 2 Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night. Indeed, We were to warn [mankind]. 3 Therein (that night) is decreed every matter of ordainments. 4 Amran (i.e. a Command or this Quran or the Decree of every matter) from Us. Verily, We are ever sending (the Messengers), 5 as a mercy (for the human being) from your Lord. Your Lord is All-hearing and All-knowing. 6 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all between them, if ye (but) have an assured faith. 7 La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). It is He Who gives life and causes death, your Lord and the Lord of your fore-fathers. 8 Yet they are in doubt, playing. 9 Watch for the Day when the heaven will bring clear smoke, 10 That will envelop the people. This will be a painful torment. 11 O our Sustainer, relieve us of suffering, for, verily, we [now] believe [in Thee]!" 12 How can a warning benefit them? The Apostle who explained all things clearly had come to them, 13 And they had turned away from him and said: One taught (by others), a madman? 14 We are removing the punishment a little, but you revert. 15 The Day We will strike with the greatest assault, indeed, We will take retribution. 16 ۞ And before them We indeed tried the people of Firaun, and an Honourable Noble Messenger came to them. 17 saying, 'Deliver to me God's servants; I am for you a faithful Messenger, 18 And saying exalt not yourselves against Allah; verily I have come unto you with an authority manifest. 19 And lo! I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord lest ye stone me to death. 20 “And if you do not believe in me, then have no relation with me.” 21 Then he supplicated to his Lord saying: 'These are sinful people' 22 (The reply came:) "March forth with My Servants by night: for ye are sure to be pursued. 23 Leave the sea behind you parted; they are a host destined to be drowned." 24 How many gardens and fountains did they leave behind, 25 And crops and noble sites 26 and what prosperity they had rejoiced in! 27 Even so; and We caused to inherit them another people. 28 And neither heaven nor earth shed a tear over them: nor were they given a respite (again). 29
