He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 So you are after him! 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and grass, 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
