The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 It will be a place of return 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
