The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun. 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did. 36
