No, by the moon! 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 A warning to mortals, 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 About the criminals, 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 This will certainly never be the case! In fact, they are not afraid of the Day of Judgment. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
