He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 So you are after him! 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olives and date palms, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
