The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)

286 verses, revealed in Medina after The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen) before The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)

Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Alif Lam Mim 1 This is the Book; in it is guidance sure, without doubt, to those who fear Allah; 2 Who believe in the unseen and establish the (daily) prayer; who spend out of what We have provided them. 3 Who believe in what has been revealed to you and what was revealed to those before you, and are certain of the Hereafter. 4 It is the pious who follow the guidance of their Lord and gain lasting happiness. 5 As for those whose fate is disbelief, whether you warn them or do not warn them – it is all one for them; they will not believe. (Because their hearts are sealed – see next verse). 6 Allah has sealed their hearts and their ears, and on their eyes is a covering; and for them is a terrible punishment. 7
