The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to those that deal in fraud,- 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
