The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
