The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
