The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
