The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
