The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 But save him who fears 17 he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Sustainer, the All-Highest: 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
