And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 no loyal friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
