(Muhammad), have you ever seen the one who has turned away (from guidance), 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Hath he knowledge of the Unseen so that he seeth? 35 Or hath he not had news of what is in the books of Moses 36 And Abraham who paid his debt: 37 that no soul shall bear the burden of another; 38 And that man shall have nothing but what he strives for- 39 and that his labouring shall surely be seen, 40 then, he shall be recompensed for it in full repayment 41 and that with thy Sustainer is the beginning and the end [of all that exists]; 42 That it is He who makes you happy and morose, 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 It is He who has created spouses, male and female, 45 From a drop of semen when emitted; 46 And that upon Him is another bringing forth. 47 And that it is He Who enricheth and preserveth property. 48 And that He it is Who is the Lord of Sirius; 49 And that it is He Who destroyed the (powerful) ancient 'Ad (people), 50 And Thamud - and He did not spare [them] - 51 and the people of Noah before -- certainly they did exceeding evil, and were insolent 52 And the overturned towns He hurled down 53 And covered them by that which He covered. 54 So which then of your Lord's favors do you dispute? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The Hour that was to come draws ever nearer. 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 Does this statement seem strange to them 59 And do you laugh instead of weeping, 60 Indulging in pleasantries? 61 So prostrate yourselves before God and worship him. ۩ 62
