He who is negligent to remember the Merciful One, to him We assign a satan as his boon companion, 36 And verily, they (Satans / devils) hinder them from the Path (of Allah), but they think that they are guided aright! 37 And when he comes before Us, he shall say: 'Would that there had been between me and you, the distance of the two Easts' Evil is the companion. 38 It will profit you not this Day (O you who turn away from Allah's remembrance and His worship, etc.) as you did wrong, (and) that you will be sharers (you and your Qarin) in the punishment. 39 What! can you then make the deaf to hear or guide the blind and him who is in clear error? 40 Even if We take thee away, We shall be sure to exact retribution from them, 41 or We show you a part of that which We have promised them, for indeed We have power over them. 42 So hold fast to what has been revealed to you. Surely you are on the Straight Way. 43 And indeed, it is a remembrance for you and your people, and you [all] are going to be questioned. 44 Ask all Our Messengers whom We sent before you whether We had appointed any deities beside the Merciful One to be worshipped. 45
