Al-Hijjr 3 of 6
We created man out of dry clay, from moulded mud, 26 while We had brought the jinn into being before out of blazing fire. 27 And (remember) when thy Lord said unto the angels: Lo! I am creating a mortal out of potter's clay of black mud altered, 28 And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My spirit, bow before him in homage;" 29 All the angels prostrated themselves, 30 But Iblis did not; he refused to be with the prostrates. 31 He said: 'iblis, what is the matter with you, that you do you not prostrate yourself' 32 He said it was not for me that I should prostrate myself unto a human being whom Thou hast created from ringing clay of loam moulded. 33 He said: Then go thou forth from hence, for lo! thou art outcast. 34 and there shall be a curse upon you till the Day of Recompense." 35 "O my Lord," said he, "give me respite till the day the dead are raised." 36 [Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved 37 till the Day the time whereof is known [to Me alone]." 38 [Whereupon Iblis] said: "O my Sustainer! Since Thou hast thwarted me, I shall indeed make [all that is evil] on earth seem goodly to them, and shall most certainly beguile them - into grievous error 39 "Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them." 40 God said, "The path which leads to Me is a straight 41 Surely, you shall have no power over My true servants, except those misguided ones who choose to follow you. 42 And indeed hell is the promise for all of them. 43 It has seven gates, and through each gate a portion of them belong. 44

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
