A numerous company from among the first, 39 and a throng of the later folk. 40 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 41 [They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water 42 and a shade of thick, pitch-black smoke, 43 (That shadow) neither cool, nor (even) good, 44 and before that they lived at ease, 45 and would persist in heinous sinning, 46 And they used to say: What! when we die and have become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised? 47 We and our fathers of old? 48 Say: 'Those of ancient times and those of later times 49 shall all be brought together on an appointed Day. 50 Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers, 51 Will eat of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 And shall fill therewith your bellies. 53 and on top of this you will drink boiling water 54 And will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels. 55 This is their entertainment on the day of requital. 56 It is We Who have created you: why will ye not witness the Truth? 57 Just consider (the semen) that you emit, 58 Do you yourselves create it, or are We the Creators? 59 We have [indeed] decreed that death shall be [ever-present] among you: but there is nothing to prevent Us 60 In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know. 61 And verily ye know the first creation. Why, then, do ye not reflect? 62 Have you seen what you sow? 63 Do you give it its increase, or are We the giver? 64 Had We wanted, We could have crushed it to bits and you would have been left to lament, 65 Verily we are undone. 66 nay; we have been undone!” 67 Consider the water that you drink. 68 Do ye bring it down (in rain) from the cloud or do We? 69 Did We will, We would make it bitter; so why are you not thankful? 70 Have you considered the fire you kindle? 71 Was it ye who made the tree thereof to grow, or were We the grower? 72 It is We who have made it a means to remind [you of Us,] and a comfort for all who are lost and hungry in the wilderness [of their lives]. 73 (Muhammad), glorify your Lord, the Great One. 74
