Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 and raised couches, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions lined up 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
