And whosoever turns away (blinds himself) from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent (Allah) (i.e. this Quran and worship of Allah), We appoint for him Shaitan (Satan - devil) to be a Qarin (an intimate companion) to him. 36 And indeed, the devils avert them from the way [of guidance] while they think that they are [rightly] guided 37 Until when he comes to Us, he says: O would that between me and you there were the distance of the East and the West; so evil is the associate! 38 And since you were unjust, it will not profit you this day that you are sharers in the chastisement. 39 Wherefore canst thou make the deaf to hear, or canst thou guide the blind or him who is is error manifest? 40 We shall inflict retribution on them, whether We take you away from the world (before We do that), 41 Or We shall show thee that (accomplished) which We have promised them: for verily We shall prevail over them. 42 So hold thou fast unto that which has been revealed unto thee; surely thou art upon a straight path. 43 it is certainly a reminder to you and to your people and you will soon be called to account. 44 Ask Our Messengers whom We sent before you if We have ever made gods, other than the Merciful, to be worshipped. 45
