The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 by those that swim serenely 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
