And remember Our bondman Ayyub (Job); when he cried out* to his Lord, “The devil has struck me with hardship and pain.” (After seven years of patience.) 41 (And it was said unto him): Strike the ground with thy foot. This (spring) is a cool bath and a refreshing drink. 42 And We granted him his family and a like [number] with them as mercy from Us and a reminder for those of understanding. 43 And take in thine hand a handful of twigs, and strike therewith, and break not thine oath. Verily We! We found him patient. How excellent a bondman! Verily he was oft-returning. 44 And remember Our servants Ibrahim and Ishaq and Yaqoub, men of power and insight. 45 Verily We exalted them in consideration of a sterling quality: their remembrance of the Abode of the Hereafter. 46 In Our sight they are among the chosen and excellent ones. 47 And remember Ishmael, Elisha, and Dhu al-Kifl. All were of the best. 48 This is a Reminder. The righteous shall have a good place to return to: 49 #NAME? 50 Reclining therein, calling therein for many fruits and drink. 51 ۞ With companions of modest look, the same in age, by their side. 52 This is what they had been promised for the Day of Judgment. 53 this is Our provision, unto which there is no end.' 54 But the arrogant will have the worst return: 55 Hell; which they shall enter; what an evil resting-place! 56 This, [then, for them] so let them taste it: burning despair and ice-cold darkness 57 And other Penalties of a similar kind, to match them! 58 This is a troop entering with you (in Hell), no welcome for them! Verily, they shall burn in the Fire! 59 They will reply: “Rather, no welcome to you. (You will roast in Hell.) It is you who led us to this end. What an evil resort!” 60 [And] they will pray: "O our Sustainer! Whoever has prepared this for us, double Thou his suffering in the fire!" 61 They will say to one another: “But why do we not see those whom we considered him among the wicked? 62 "Did we treat them (as such) in ridicule, or have (our) eyes failed to perceive them?" 63 Verily all this is true. This is how the inmates of the Fire will dispute among themselves. 64
