The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou enveloped in thy cloak, 1 Arise, and warn. 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 Purify your inner self, 4 and flee from the statues! 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 Then looked he, 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
