The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 Rise up and warn! 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 And your garments purify! 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And children present [with him] 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 Then looked he, 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 Then he turned back and was proud; 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
