The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER Mount Sinai! 1 and a Book inscribed 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 and the uplifted roof 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 on the Day when the skies are convulsed, 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, 11 who divert themselves with idle chatter: 12 On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. 13 This is the fire which you used to deny. 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 Endure it [now]! But [whether you] bear yourselves with patience or without patience, it will be the same to you: you are but being requited for what you were wont to do." 16 The pious will live in bountiful Paradise, 17 Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 while they pass therein a cup one to another wherein is no idle talk, no cause of sin, 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families: 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
