The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
