The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 and the replenishing earth, 12 Verily! This (the Quran) is the Word that separates (the truth from falsehood, and commands strict legal laws for mankind to cut the roots of evil). 13 And no trifle. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
