The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
