The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise and deliver thy warning! 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 thy robes purify 4 And all defilement shun! 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 and children living in his presence, 13 To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 Then looked he, 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 Then he turned back and was proud; 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 It glows and burns the skin. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 We have made only angels as the keepers of the fire (for they are the strongest in carrying out Our commands). Our informing (people) of the numbers of these angels is a trial for the disbelievers. It gives more certainty to the people of the Book and strengthens the faith of the believers. The people of the Book and the believers have no doubt about it. We have fixed the number to make the disbelievers and those whose hearts are sick say, "What does God mean by such a parable?" Thus, God guides and causes to go astray whomever He wants. No one knows about the army of your Lord except He Himself. This parable is a reminder for mankind. 31
