The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Mount (of Revelation); 1 By the book inscribed. 2 In a Scroll unfolded; 3 And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). 6 Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 [It will come to pass] on the Day when the skies will be convulsed in [a great] convulsion, 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 This is the fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 Rejoicing because of what their Lord gave them, and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the burning fire. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 "Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!" 28
