[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 161 I am a trustworthy Messenger. 162 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 163 And I ask of you no hire therefor; my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 164 "Of all the creatures in the world, will ye approach males, 165 And leave what your Lord has created for you of your wives? Nay, you are a people exceeding limits. 166 They said: "If thou desist not, O Lut! thou wilt assuredly be cast out!" 167 He said: verily I am of those who abhor your work. 168 My Lord, save me and my family from [the consequence of] what they do." 169 We saved him and all of his family, 170 except an old woman who was among those that stayed behind. 171 then We destroyed the others, 172 and We poured a rain [of destruction] down upon them -- and how evil was the rain which fell on those who were forewarned. 173 Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
