The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 On a grievous day, 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 And what do you know, how (wretched) the Sijjeen is! 8 A book inscribed. 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 To which bear witness those brought nigh. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 when them passed them by winking at one another, 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
