The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
22 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Sun (Al-Shams) before The Fig (Al-Teen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I swear by the mansions of the stars, 1 by the Promised Day, 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 The companions of the pit were killed 4 Full of fire fed by faggots, 5 while they themselves sat around it 6 And they, to what they were doing against the believers, were witnesses. 7 And they persecuted them for naught save that they believed in Allah, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy 8 to whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and earth. And Allah is the Witness of all things. 9 Indeed, those who have tortured the believing men and believing women and then have not repented will have the punishment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the Burning Fire. 10 Verily, those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them will be Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise). That is the great success. 11 Verily the grip of thine Lord is severe. 12 It is verily He who initiates and repeats. 13 And He is the Fogiving, the Loving, 14 Lord of the Throne, the All-glorious, 15 Performer of what He desires. 16 HAS IT ever come within thy ken, the story of the [sinful] hosts 17 of Pharaoh and Thamud? 18 Nay, but the unbelievers still cry lies, 19 but all the while God encompasses them [with His knowledge and might] without their being aware of it. 20 Nay; but this is a glorious Qur'an, 21 upon an imperishable tablet [inscribed]. 22
God the Almighty always says the truth.
