The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 Requital corresponding. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
