And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
