The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
