Did the news of Ibrahim’s honourable guests reach you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him)? 24 When they came in unto him and said: peace! he said: peace! people unknown. 25 Then he turned aside to his family secretly and brought a fat (roasted) calf, 26 and laid it before them, saying: “Will you not eat?” 27 He therefore inwardly sensed fear of them; they said, “Do not fear!”; and they gave him the glad tidings of a knowledgeable son. 28 Then came forward his wife, clamouring, and she smote her face, and said, 'An old woman, barren!' 29 They said: Thus says your Lord: Surely He is the Wise, the Knowing. 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "Messengers, what is your task?" 31 They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals 32 That we may send down upon them stones of baked clay. 33 Marked, from before thy Lord, for the extravagant. 34 Then we brought forth such believers as were there. 35 but We found not therein except one house of those that have surrendered themselves. 36 and left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Musa also was a lesson, when We sent him unto Fir'awn with authority manifest. 38 Then he turned away with his court, and said: a magician or a madman. 39 Then We seized him and his army and cast them all into the sea: he himself [Pharaoh] was to blame. 40 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Ad, when We let loose upon them an ominous wind 41 that left nothing that it came upon without reducing it to rubble. 42 And in Thamud's also was a lesson, when it was said unto them: enjoy yourselves for a season. 43 But they were insolent toward the command of their Lord, so the thunderbolt seized them while they were looking on. 44 they could neither stand up straight, nor were they helped. 45 And the folk of Noah aforetime. Lo! they were licentious folk. 46
