Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 in a Garden on high, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
