The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
