O you apostles, eat things that are clean, and do things that are good. We are surely cognisant of what you do. 51 “And indeed this religion of yours is one religion only and I am your Lord, therefore fear Me.” 52 Yet they have split their affairs between themselves into sects, each rejoicing in what it has. 53 Therefore leave them in their overwhelming ignorance till 54 Do they think that We enlarge them in wealth and children, 55 We are hastening to reward them for good deeds? No. They do not comprehend. 56 Those who tremble in fear of their Lord, 57 who believe in the verses of their Lord; 58 and those who associate naught with their Lord 59 and those who give to others what has been bestowed upon them with their hearts trembling at the thought that they must return to their Lord; 60 to God, these are the ones who really compete with each other in virtuous deeds and are the foremost ones in the task. 61 And we task not any soul beyond its scope, and with Us is a Record which speaketh the truth, and they will not be wronged. 62 Yet their hearts are oblivious of this; and besides, they are busy with other things, 63 Until, when We grasp those of them who lead a luxurious life with punishment, behold! They make humble invocation with a loud voice. 64 "Do not supplicate for help today; you will not be rescued by Us; 65 My revelations were recited to you, but you turned your backs 66 behaving arrogantly, and making fun, and talking nonsense (about the Book in your nightly chats)." 67 Why did they not think over the message? Or has something come to them which had not come to their fathers? 68 Or did you not recognize your Messenger and, thus, denied him (Muhammad) 69 Or say they: There is a madness in him? Nay, but he bringeth them the Truth; and most of them are haters of the Truth. 70 If the Truth had been in accord with their desires, truly the heavens and the earth, and all beings therein would have been in confusion and corruption! Nay, We have sent them their admonition, but they turn away from their admonition. 71 Or dost thou ask them for tribute? Yet the tribute of thy Lord is better, and He is the best of providers. 72 And indeed you call them to the Straight Path. 73 But those who believe not in the Hereafter turn away from the straight path. 74 ۞ If We had mercy on them and removed their afflictions, they would still persist in their insolence, blindly wandering. 75 We seized them with the punishment, but they did not surrender to their Lord, nor will they humble themselves 76 until, when We open against them a door of terrible chastisement, lo, they are sore confounded at it. 77
