The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 And spreading shade, 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
