The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Last Day came near, and the moon split apart. 1 Yet if they see a sign they turn away, and they say 'A continuous sorcery!' 2 They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. 3 And indeed the news which had a lot of deterrence, came to them. 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 Therefore, turn away from them. On the Day when the Caller summons them to a terrible thing, 6 They will come out from the graves with eyes lowered, as if they were spread locusts. 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ The people of Nuh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them, they rejected Our slave, and said: "A madman!" and he was insolently rebuked and threatened. 9 He therefore prayed to his Lord, “I am overpowered, therefore avenge me.” 10 Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out. 11 and caused the earth to burst forth with springs, so that the waters met for a purpose pre-ordained: 12 We bore him on an [ark] which, made of planks and nails, 13 That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected. 14 We made (the story of Noah) as evidence of the Truth. However, is there anyone who would take heed? 15 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 16 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 17 And there belied the A'ad; so how dreadful have been My torment and warning! 18 We let loose against them a violent roaring wind on a day of ill omen, continuous, 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 21 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 22
