He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 you attend to him, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Noble and pious. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 Mother and father, 35 wife and sons, 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 laughing, joyous; 39 but others will be gloomy 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
