The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Last Hour draws near and the moon is split asunder. 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. 3 And indeed the news which had a lot of deterrence, came to them. 4 far-reaching wisdom [was held out to them]: but [since] all warnings have been of no avail, 5 So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding, 6 with down-cast eyes they shall go forth from their graves, as though they were scattered locusts. 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ The people of Noah, who lived before them, had also rejected (Our guidance). They rejected Our servant and said, "He is an insane person so let us drive him away". 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 And We opened up the flood gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected. 14 We made (the story of Noah) as evidence of the Truth. However, is there anyone who would take heed? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 The tribe of A’ad denied – so how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). 20 How [dreadful] was My punishment and My warning! 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
